229 companies are registered as having Austrian shareholding with the Malta Financial Services Authority.
This was mentioned by the President of Malta during the state dinner held in honour of the Federal President of the Republic of Austria on 24 April 2012 in Valletta.
Austrian investment in Malta is substantial; in financial services, a number of Austrian banks operate in Malta while Austrian participation exists also in the manufacturing industry mainly specialising in injection-moulding, electronics and pharmaceuticals. Vienna International Airport also holds a stake in Malta International Airport plc.
A business delegation is accompanying the Austrian President. A number of one-to-one meetings are being organised between the visiting Austrian companies and Maltese companies.
