David Zahra and Giulio Sammut attended the 43rd ABL conference held in Chicago between 28 September and 1 October 2022
ABL (Alliance of Business Lawyers) is a leading international network of business lawyers whose members provide local expertise to globally operating business. David Zahra & Associates is a member of ABL since January 2022.
Forty-five delegates from twenty-two different member firms gathered in Chicago, along with representatives from the Chicago business community.
The conference program included an exciting mix of formal presentations and panel discussions on diverse topics of legal and educational interest, including, business law, technology landscape, advice on legal representation and communication techniques.
One particularly interesting presentation focused on a former white-collar convict recounting his experience of being charged with conspiracy charges in a securities fraud case. This presentation demonstrated that it is never too late nor too early to begin preparing for a government investigation. Indeed, by preparing an effective sentence mitigation plan one could achieve several positive outcomes such as serving the least time possible, serving the sentence in the lowest possible security level prison, and returning to society with a clear path to a new career.
This conference provided the firm further knowledge in relation to such topics and a good opportunity to meet up with other lawyers from all around the world practicing within all fields of the law.
